Printed on our exclusive Ink'd Canvas Wall Tarp, the now infamous "JOIN, OR DIE" political cartoon was Franklin's visual attempt to persuade the British colonies to band together against the French threat. Originally published in the Pennsylvania Gazette by Benjamin Franklin in 1754, Britain stepped in to defend the colonies in the ensuing French and Indian War. This emblem was a woodcut of a snake cut into sections that represented the British Colonies, visually suggesting that they join forces "or else"! One might consider this to be the birth of the "Meme Wars". This one's for you, Scott! Free POCKET CONSTITUTION/DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE with purchase!
